Buckets of fun

TO HELP raise funds for this year's Red Shield Appeal, the Cannonvale store is taking a tip from the fashion world.

Salvation Army Cannonvale Family Store manager Denise Norder said the fundraiser, catered by My Rainbow Bakery, would feature a mini fashion parade to showcase garments sold at the store.

"We will also have a speaker from the Salvation Army local corps, who will speak about the role of the Salvation Army in north Queensland," she said.

Nigel Pemberton of Shingley Beach Resort will be the MC and auctioneer on the night as items donated by local business are auctioned off.

"The local business community have been extremely supportive, with the donation of many items, ranging from accommodation packages to six-month bus passes and hair and nail vouchers," Ms Norder said

"The fundraiser will be great for friends to catch up and learn more about the Salvation Army and its Family Stores."

Funds raised by the Red Shield Appeal go towards supporting the Salvation Army recovery centre in Townsville and Samaritan House women's refuge in Mackay.

Tickets cost $35 each and are available online at Whitsunday Tickets or from the Salvation Army Family Store in Cannonvale or Bowen (cash only).
