Buderim babe narrowly beats Will and Kate's princess
SNUGGLED in her pink wrap and squirming slightly in her mother's arms, baby Zara is oblivious to the stir her timely arrival has caused.
Zara made her entrance in the early hours of Saturday morning - at 1.08am to be exact.
Later that day at 8.34am London time, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed into the world their baby girl, princess and fourth in line to the throne.
It would be easy to assume the similarities between the two newborns end there.
But a more thorough look shows Zara and the princess, whose name at time of print had yet to be announced, have more in common than a birth date.
Zara is the second child to Buderim couple Zoe and Braden Young, whose eldest son Finn is two years old.
MORE ON THE ROYAL ARRIVAL:
While Finn was in the care of relatives eagerly awaiting his sister's arrival, so too was the Princess's one-year-old brother George.
Both Finn and the Prince will celebrate their birthdays in July.
With a birth weight of 4.6kg, baby Zara was nearly a kilo heavier than the princess who weighed 3.7kg.
But both girls kept their mothers waiting, coming in to the world days overdue.
"I was a bit overdue, and I didn't know when she (The Duchess of Cambridge) was due," Mrs Young said.
"It wasn't until we watched the news later after she was born that we realised she had gone into labour and was born shortly afterwards.
"It's kind of special.
"I was happy to have our baby with us after such a long time and I thought this was an added bonus."
After little more than 12 hours in hospital, William and Kate took the Royal Princess home.
But Mrs Young said it would be later in the week before Zara left the comfort of the maternity ward.
