Car show a must-see at Conway this weekend
FOR car enthusiasts there's only one stop this weekend.
The Conway Beach Tourist Park will host the sixth annual Cars at Conway Family Fun Day on Saturday and Sunday.
It all started due to one man's passion for motor vehicles.
"George [Pauly] is very into cars, he always has been, and he decided one year to hold a car show," event co-organiser Tiani Pauly said.
"The first year was really popular so we decided to do it annually. A day all those revhead dads can look at their cars and the kids can use the facilities...it's a really good family day." Ms Pauly said the event had gained momentum every year, with this year's instalment likely to feature a Shelby Mustang in "adorable condition", HT and HK Monaros and Dodge Chargers.
"Word gets out and it's more talked about," Ms Pauly said.
"This year the park is quite full, so we think it's going to be bigger than last year. We put [on] activities for the car entrants; after all the people come through the gate we do a 'rod run' through the park, giving all the wives a chance to drive the cars."
Ms Pauly said it was a must for car lovers, but also something the wider community would enjoy.
"If you're a family man it's a great day to bring the kids down and maybe make yourself into a car person...everyone loves cars," she said.
