Community invited to celebrate the move

A CELEBRATORY atmosphere will be flowing through the new Cruise Whitsundays maritime terminal during its first fortnight of operations

Tomorrow afternoon, Cruise Whitsundays' regular commuters will enjoy 'Happy Hour' as they cruise back from work on the islands into Airlie Beach.

A Willy Wonka style 'Golden Ticket' promotion will be run throughout the first fortnight, with Cruise Whitsundays giving away bonus tours for visitors to the region.

The entire local community is invited to a community open day and family fun day, being held at the terminal from 10am-1pm on Sunday, September 14. Locals are also invited to go cruising to celebrate the new terminal, with Turtle Club members being offered two-for-one cruises to Whitehaven Beach until September 19.

Turtle Club membership is free and open to all local residents. It includes a 20 per cent discount on all resort connections throughout the year as well as 25 per cent off Hamilton Island Airport transfers and discounts when travelling on day cruises with visiting family and friends.

An official opening of the terminal will be overseen by Whitsunday mayor Jennifer Whitney, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 19.

Cruise Whitsundays sales manager, Tracy Evans, said the company wanted everyone to share the excitement of the move to Port of Airlie.

"Our regular commuters and locals are such important guests of ours and we look forward to sharing our celebrations with them over the next fortnight," she said.

"We have such a beautiful backyard and we hope the locals take up this opportunity to cruise with us and enjoy it."
