CRIME: Man approaching young women in Bowen

A MAN has reportedly been approaching young women in Bowen, police have released information about the issue and other incidents that have occurred in town over the past week.

MAN APPROACHING YOUNG WOMEN

There have been recent reports of an unknown male person approaching young women in Bowen and offering them lifts.

The man is reportedly driving a white 4WD or utility vehicle and has been seen near the McDonalds area.

Police are asking anyone who has been approached or seen anybody acting suspiciously or in an untoward manner to please contact Bowen Police Station or Crimestoppers, and if possible to obtain vehicle registration details or a physical description of the man.

NOISY NEIGHBOUR

At 10:20am on Sunday, March 1, police were called to an altercation at a multi-residential building in Bowen.

A 41-year-old man is alleged to have assaulted a 52-year-old woman after a verbal altercation.

The alleged altercation was not a domestic violence offence and allegedly occurred after an argument over noise.

The man was taken to Bowen Police Station and charged with public nuisance, assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of lawful damage.

The man will appear at Bowen Magistrates Court on March 31.

OPPORTUNISTIC BREAK AND ENTER

Between 2am and 5am on Sunday, March 1, a residence in Gilbert St in Bowen was the subject of a break and enter.

It is unknown how many people were involved, but they entered the residential property via an unlocked door and stole a mobile phone from the kitchen area.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, to phone Bowen Police Station or Crime Stoppers.

Police also remind members of the public to lock your doors to prevent these kinds of opportunistic thefts.
