Dog food factory outlet launching this weekend in Toowoomba

A family-owned Toowoomba business of 20 years is launching a dog food factory outlet this weekend.

Reward Petfoods, run by Craig and Melissa Jones, has been manufacturing delicious treats for four-legged friends and selling them wholesale for two decades.

Now, they’re opening a factory outlet to help prevent wastage.

Sometimes, the products are not up to their customer’s specification – they’re sometimes not the right size or may have some sort of aesthetic difference.

“There’s nutritionally nothing wrong,” Mrs Jones said.

“There could be a crack in a biscuit or something – that’s it.

“So this eliminates the problem have having to waste the products.”

The launch of the factory outlet will take place from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, March 6.

Mrs Jones said for the opening day only, they would be giving away free sample-bags.

All other bags of treats are $10.

The Jones’ business began as a small operation which they used to run from their own home, after they had put their kids to sleep at night.

Now, they have their own factory in Wilsonton, employ 18 people, their products appear in pet stores around the country, and have even been exported to the United States and China.

The factory outlet will be open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, from next week.

The outlet will operate from 41-45 Industrial Ave, Wilsonton.
