AUSSIE RULES: A kick after the siren has kept the Eastern Swans' hopes of playing finals footy alive.

They got an early jump on North Mackay Saints, who were quick to answer back.

Saints were up by one point at half time and finally jumped into the lead with three minutes to go in the final quarter.

"The desire to win was a little bit more there for us,” Swans coach Nigel Dent said.

The Swans evened the scores in the final minutes and scrambled for a turnover at their half forward line.

"Kyle Shepherd had a shot after the siren,” Dent said.

"We were lucky enough to get it back to him and he snuck it in for a point.”

Dent said the Swans put their season on the line to win the game and need to do it again next week against Mackay City Hawks.
