Fight Night a knockout

FIGHT NIGHT

HE might not have got the results he was after, but Whitsunday Martial Arts' coach Anton Zafir has praised Airlie Fight Night III has "hugely successful".

More than 800 people crammed into the Whitsunday PCYC on Saturday night to witness the fight spectacle, but only Dan Zealand (choke), Remi Vigor (TKO), Daniel McCormack (points decision) and Adam Mitton (TKO) would be crowned triumphant in front of an adoring hometown audience.

"When you get tough match-ups the fights can go either way," Zafir explained.

"It's a great learning experience and has given our fighters plenty of things to work through."

Matt Thurtell (points decision), Dylan Grundy (rear-ended choke submission), Matt Sehl (TKO), Scott Dwyer (stopped by referee), Garret Byrne (points decision) and Sean Kolders (TKO) were unsuccessful in their bouts, but arguably the fight of the night was played between Clint Osborne and Orren Jameljanenko - which resulted in a draw.

Zafir praised the community for its involvement and support for the Fight Night, while also thanking various sponsors.

The wheels are already in motion for another Fight Night in November.
