AUSSIE RULES: Bakers Creek Tigresses' put in their best team effort all year at the weekend, their coach Ian Rix said.

He said everything they had been working on at training, like their forward structure, was starting to pay off.

And it has shown with their past three wins, particularly last week when Bakers defeated reigning premiers, Mackay Magpies, for the first time.

Rix said it was a huge confidence boost for the Tigresses as they prepare to take on competition front runners, North Mackay Saints, next weekend.

"The girls are really excited about it, the Saints gave us a bit of a touch up about five weeks ago,” he said.

"The girls have taken that on board and can see what extra effort is needed to win those kind of games.”

Rix said they would be focussing on putting pressure on the Saints' ball carriers and runners.

"They have good skills and they're a quick team. We need to try and stop that clean disposal they get and stop their run,” he said.
