GROUNDED: Jetstar suspends flights into the Whitsundays
Several flights from Sydney to the Whitsundays have been cancelled as border restrictions wreak havoc on southerner's travel plans.
Jetstar flights set to land at Whitsunday Coast Airport on December 26 and January 2, 5 and 7 have been cancelled.
As at Wednesday, flights from Sydney due into the region on December 29 and 31 will still go ahead.
Jetstar flights into Hamilton Island have also been suspended from Christmas Day until at least January 8.
It is understood Virgin Australia flights from Sydney to Whitsunday Coast Airport are continuing as scheduled.
Whitsunday Coast and Hamilton Island airports are among a raft of routes suspended by Jetstar, including Perth, Uluru, Darwin and Townsville.
Jetstar has also put a pause on flights into other popular tourism destinations the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.
If passengers are booked on one of the suspended routes and need to return home before flights are halted, they can bring their flight forward at no additional cost.
Jetstar are also offering reimbursements for travellers who wish to cancel their flight.
