Gladstone muso gets top 10 in star making competition

GLADSTONE born country musician Hayley Marsten is in the top ten for this year's Toyota Star Maker competition.

It's the 37th year of the competition, which once recognised the likes of Keith Urban and Lee Kernaghan.

Hayley's debut EP set her up well in the country music scene, performing at the Agnes Water Blues Roots and Rock festival and having a hit in the top 40 country music charts.

The winner will be announced at the Toyota Concert for Rural Australia at Tamworth in January.

They will receive a new Toyota car and guaranteed performances at major festivals in Australia.

Hayley, who now lives in Brisbane, is working on her second album now.

She is one of three finalists who are from Queensland.
