Heatstroke victim's widow to give birth to son today

EMILY Hall's 'best friend and soulmate' may not be there to hold her hand as she welcomes their baby son into the world today.

But friends have rallied to her side to remember her 'lovely' husband and support her as she becomes a mum for the first time.

Mrs Hall lost her husband Matthew to heatstroke while he was dirt bike riding on the Sunshine Coast last month, only weeks before her due date.

Friends and family will gather to remember Matthew Hall at a charity dinner on Monday to raise funds for his baby son.

Touched by Emily's strength after losing her husband, the owner of Longtime Restaurant and family friend Tyron Simon said he felt compelled to do more to help.

"They were so in love," Mr Simon said. "She was his sweetheart, he was her sweetheart.

"She's an incredibly strong woman, for her to be as strong and courageous as she is, is a testament to the relationship and the kind of people they are."

A fundraising page set up for the Virgin Australia pilot has raised more than $101,000. But Mr Simon he wanted to do more to help the family as they grieve the loss of an "incredible person."

"I was able to convey our sorrow and sadness and started off offering food whenever they needed it but it wasn't enough.

"We wanted to do more so we went to Emily's cousin and asked if they would be happy to do a charity dinner … tickets are $189 and all proceeds go directly to Emily.

"When someone is hurting and when you can help you should.

Ms Hall posted on Instagram after her husband's accident that she had lost her "best friend and soulmate."

"I can't fathom life without him but my strength is knowing he will live through his son," the post said.
