Learning to lead
THE new little leaders of Proserpine State School have officially been inducted, receiving their badges of office in front of their parents, teachers and peers last week.
Presenting the badges were some of the Whitsunday's own community leaders, including Mayor Jennifer Whitney and State Member Jason Costigan.
The elected students will be responsible for bringing the concerns of their peers to the school's management team and will also become the public face of the school for 2015.
This year's school captains are Jack Dwyer and Libby Cornish. Vice-captains are Elliott Nuske and Ben Nosworthy.
Student leader positions went to Masal Barry-Ramoi, Jack Briskey, Zac Callan, Connor Cowan, Lauchlan Cowan, Penny Farrell, Mia-Rose Hampstead and Britney Trenerry.
Forming the 2015 student council are Jett Hiscox, Melita Mailman, Holly Smith, Luke Pini, Ethan Smith, Breanna Mackay, Jayme Farr, Lachlan Gray, Nickolas Hannan, Ethan Hoffman, Mac Rogers, Emily Hinschen, Florence Matthews, Jye Muller, Jett Ogden, Tessa Jolley, Bronte Templeton, Kasey Yule, Sean Turner and Makayla Russell.
Representing Oxley house are captains Amelia Emmerson and Rachael Lester and vice-captain Lillian Jones.
Kennedy house captains this year are Abby Hiscox and Max Thomson, supported by vice-captains Ashlee Botto and Chloe Forsyth.
Leading Flinders house will be captains Kate McDonald and Luke Handley, with vice-captains Connor McDermid and Tom Fuller.
Cook house captains this year are Keyra Smith and Ashton Sinnott, and vice-captains are Penny Turner and Molly Hird.
