Mum makes Macca’s career move with new Kirkwood restaurant
RAELENE Falls believes she has found the perfect career to balance her busy home life, with the mother of four joining McDonald's new Kirkwood restaurant when it opened its doors on Monday.
She will make the move from the Calliope restaurant to McDonald's Kirkwood, where she will take on management duties in the McCafe.
It has been a quick rise up the ranks for Raelene, who started with McDonald's in November and was promoted to a shift manager after just two weeks.
McDonald's Kirkwood licensee Tony Ward said Raelene would feel at home in the new restaurant, which had been designed for central Queensland families.
"(It) has been designed for family-friendly fun, where mums and dads can relax in our McCafe, while children can explore our new air-conditioned Playland," he said.
"The indoor Playland has been built with our climate in mind, and can be enjoyed all year round."
Mr Ward said the decor was bright and fresh, with trendy furniture and featured free wi-fi and power points installed for laptop use.
Since starting at McDonald's, I have been able to take part in some incredible training opportunities and am really looking forward to continuing to develop my management skills at the Kirkwood restaurant.
The restaurant also has a meeting room with the latest technology for presentations, which Mr Ward said was available for free to local community groups and businesses.
Raelene said she has relished the opportunity to be part of the McDonald's team and can't wait to help open Kirkwood's new McDonald's.
"I applied for work at McDonald's, as I was seeking flexibility in my work hours and things have worked out perfectly," she said.
"Not only am I able to work and still be at home with my kids after school, but I am building a great career for myself.
"I just love being here, whether it's while I'm working and interacting with the crew and customers, or spending time with my husband and children on family occasions."
Having recently moved from a dairy farm in the Boyne Valley, Raelene had no prior experience working in food and hospitality but in her four months at McDonald's, she has completed a Certificate III in Retail, which provides the ideal foundation for working in management.
"Since starting at McDonald's, I have been able to take part in some incredible training opportunities and am really looking forward to continuing to develop my management skills at the Kirkwood restaurant," she said.
Mr Ward invited the community to check out the restaurant opening today.
