UPDATE: Multiple sightings as search for prisoner continues

UPDATE, 10:15am: DECTECTIVE Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey fronted media this morning to discuss the prison escape at Rockhampton Hospital.

Police have received "a number of leads" and "a number of sightings" around Rockhampton and Gracemere according to Det Peachey.

He took the chance to warn the public of the legalities behind aiding an escaped prisoner.

"If anyone does know where this person is, or is assisting him, be sure that if you are assisting him, you are committing an offence," Det Peachey said.
He said due to the offender's prior charges, it could be "quite possible" the escapee may have armed himself.
He stressed the importance of not approaching the prisoner if seen, due to his violent history but police still required assistance from the public.
Lui Tiaaleaiga is believed to have a significant foot injury and may be walking with a limp, potentially with a leg restraint.
His distinctive long black curly hair and muscular build will be advantageous to the public in identifying the prisoner, Det Peachey believed.
Police confirmed an internal investigation was underway to identify how the prisoner escaped police guard.
"It will be under investigation."
"But our top priority is location this person," Det Peachey said.
An Escape of Lawful Custody charge may be added to Tiaaleaiga's criminal history if he is found.
