Muddy good time as team tests its fitness
A GROUP of Gladstone and Tannum Sands residents training for the Reebok Spartan Race later this month has tested out its fitness at the Obstacles Gone Mad event at Yeppoon.
The participants, many of whom train with Bec Swanton at Perfect Fit Training Solutions, had a muddy good time running, jumping, climbing and crawling their way through the circuit - which included a number of mud pits - on Saturday.
Swanton said the group of seven had been doing a lot of training for the Spartan event and were keen to have a test run at Yeppoon.
"We've been doing long sessions with a lot of running in between obstacles," Swanton said.
"It's putting those two elements together - fast running in between the obstacles.
"They've also been doing personal training sessions or group sessions with me during the week.
"The Spartan event will be a nice culmination of their training, and gives them something to work towards."
Seven hundred people of all ages and fitness levels embraced the challenge at Yeppoon.
The Spartan event will be held at Peak Crossing, west of Ipswich, on August 15.
It features a 14km and 25km obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental resolve.
