Self help books hit number one
A WHITSUNDAY woman who wrote a self help book in just seven hours is now celebrating sweet success after reaching the number one spot online in less than 24 hours.
The E-book Dear Depressed Entrepreneur, Wait, Don't Jump, by Mt Julian resident Mirella DeBoni, became a number one international best seller straight after its release at the end of last month.
Its accompanying workbook became a number one Amazon best seller, as did a further title, Dear Depressed Entrepreneur, how to get back on track when you feel depressed, stuck or not good enough.
Dear Depressed Entrepreneur, Wait, Don't Jump, is a best seller in five categories - these being women in business, self help, journal writing, emotions and depression. All three books are still among the top 10 best sellers in Australia.
Ms DeBoni wrote her first book when she was just 12-years-old, in response to a competition to write a novel, which she ultimately won.
In her adult life, she became a relationship counsellor and business coach, with a business in Proserpine for the past seven years.
In 2012, she wrote four self-help books, including The Secret Sauce of Loving Relationships which was showcased at Louise Hay's You Can Do It event in Texas.
Two years later, after working with lots of small business-people in the Whitsundays, she was inspired to write her Dear Depressed Entrepreneur series.
Describing these books as "short and personal," Ms DeBoni said she was surprised, but very excited by their success.
"When I wrote them I didn't set an intention to become a best seller, I just wrote from the heart," she said.
Ms DeBoni has a fourth book in the pipeline, set to come out in August and which she believes is going to be her best one yet.
Her books are currently only available on kindle at Amazon.com and Amazon.com.au, but Dear Depressed Entrepreneur, Wait, Don't Jump and its accompanying workbook will be printed in hardcopy in August.
