SHAPING UP: Local fighters Adam Mitton and Dan Zealand are ready for another epic Airlie Fight Night on this Saturday, May 24.

Shaping up for epic Fight Night

ABOUT 1000 people are expected to pack out the Whitsunday PCYC for this Saturday's epic Airlie Fight Night III.

Event organiser Luke Anderson said Fight Night was about five months in the planning, with extensive preparation into all aspects of the event including staff, fighters, food, lighting and set-up arrangements.

"From this one, you can expect a very, very tight run shift and amazing fighters," he said.

Whitsunday Martial Arts (WMA) owner Anton Zafir, who has been coaching the local fighters as well as partnering with Anderson for the event, said audiences could expect to see some stellar performances from their favourites in the ring.

"The guys are just more experienced [this time around] - they're hungrier, they're fitter and they're chasing bigger challenges," he said.

"[People] have seen their development over the last few [Fight Nights] and every time they come, they expect a bit more and that's what these guys are able to give."

Of the 14 local fighters, matched against fighters from all over Queensland, in K1, MMA, boxing and Muay Thai styles, Zafir said Remi Vigor, Adam Mitton and Dan Zealand would be especially exciting to watch.

Other local favourites include Shane Vorstman.

"He had a 12-second knock-out win at the last one, so we're looking for a big performance from him," Zafir said.

"But they're all going to be awesome fighters and there are three guys who are fighting after only 12 weeks of training."

Anderson said Fight Night was always an amazing experience and a chance for locals to back their favourite hometown boys.

"It's very exciting on-the-edge-of-your-seat stuff," he said.

"These guys are athletes - it's really [about] a lot of skill."

Tickets to Fight Night cost $50 for general admission, $70 for a VIP pass and $29 for children under 16. A family pass for two adults and two children costs $100.

VIP ticket-holders enjoy quick entry and premium grandstand seating.
