‘Some Blonde’ DJ set to rock at Magnums
RISING star of Melbourne's world-renowned music hub Some Blonde is set to deliver her own brand of big room electro house at Magnums Hotel this weekend.
Some Blonde DJ is the alter-ego stage name of Alicia Nicole Weir.
Naturally drawn to the magic of the stage, Alicia became emphatically consumed by a burning desire to get behind the decks while working as an assistant to the site manager of Australia's largest dance festival organisation, Future Entertainment.
With a backstage pass and personal insight into the revolution that has swept popular culture off its feet, it wasn't long before she owned her first set of DJ decks and shortly after, Some Blonde DJ was born.
"I'm just a down-to-earth girl who loves music and having fun with my friends like anyone else. Some Blonde DJ is like the superhero costume every child wore to transform into anyone they wanted to be," she said.
"When I'm DJing, I lose all self-control. In that moment, there's nothing else in this world except the music."
Inspired by the sounds of Steve Aoki, Nervo, Sven Vath and Fatboy Slim, Alicia has her targets set firmly on the art of production, spending most of her waking hours in the studio.
But she has taken a break from the studio to embark on a Queensland tour and she has her sights set on the Whitsundays.
