Tug boat company offers condolences after fatal capsize

SPOKESPERSON for Svitzer Tugs, Jeff Singleton, has expressed his sympathies on behalf of the company to those affected by Wednesday's fatal capsize.

One Innisfail man died and two Bowen men were hospitalised after a 17m fishing vessel collided with a Svitzer tug off the Bowen Harbour.

The two men hospitalised were treated for minor injuries at Bowen Hospital before being discharged on Wednesday night.

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of the deceased," Mr Singleton said.

"Svitzer is cooperating fully with authorities and any investigations that may undertake."

Mr Singleton said the company will offer counselling and support to their employees, the family of the deceased as well as those injured on the fishing boat.
