Neighbour describes seeing police chase play out

UPDATE 8.40am: A NEIGHBOUR has described the scene of a police chase which took place in Slade Point this morning. 

The neighbour said he saw a white ute allegedly travelling north on Slade Point Road being chased by an unmarked police car.

He reported the white ute attempted to do a u-turn before it was hit by the unmarked car. 

At this point the passengers eloped from the vehicle and began running south of Slade Point Road.

Officers followed the passengers on foot before an arrest was made.  

INITIAL: TWO people are in custody after a police operation to stop a stolen car in Slade Point this morning.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a male and a female are in custody after police tried to intercept their vehicle about 5am this morning.

The pair are reported to have evaded police instigating the deployment of stingers to stop the vehicle.

Police intercepted the vehicle on Slade Point Road about 5.20am after stingers burst the tyres of the stolen car.

No further information was provided.
